Set Up Tone Controls

Our internal custom made preamps offer boost and cut of bass, midrange (3 band EQ) and treble. Due to the perfect matched center frequencies and optimized signal paths, they are extremely versatile. All active electronics have an "ultra low noise circuit" in common. But if you start playing with all EQ set flat - at 12:00, you may be surprised how rich and full your bass sounds. That´s what we built it for.

Avenger series

[1] Push/Pull Volume Control
By pulling the volume knob, the active preamp will be bypasssed (true hardware-bypass), which deactivates the tone controls. The bass works without power supply (if required). In case that all tone controls are at the center position, your hear no tonal difference between the active and the passive mode.

[2] Pickup Pan Control

Tone Controls: [3] Treble · [4] Mid
· [5] Bass
The center position (at 12:00) is flat, rotating the control clockwise will boost and rotating the control counterclockwise will cut the tone.

[6] pickup preselector
The pickup preselector mixes the bridge pickup and the middle pickup together. In towards the neck position, the middle pickup is activated, in towards the bridge position, the bridge pickup is activated. In middle position the bridge pickup and the middle pickup are routed in parallel.

[7] booster mode switch
The Avenger booster circuit adds an extra amount of ultra low end and aggressive mid punch (bridge- and middle pickup are routed in series). It is activated in towards the bridge position switch setting and overwrites all settings done by the pickup preselector [6]. The booster circuit works strictly analogue without electronical boosts and is also available in passive playing modes.

Tech note: All pickup settings are humfree.

[6] coilsplitting toggle switch
When the toggle switch is in towards the neck position the bridge pickup is routed in series. When the switch is in middle position the bridge pickup is single coil. When the switch is in towards the bridge position the bridge pickup is routed in parallel.

Tech note: All pickup settings are humfree.

Xpression XP15 fretless series

[1] Push/Pull Volume Control
For leveling the output to a second (active) bass or avoiding signal loss due to long cable routings on stage, the XP15 fretless comes with a linear-preamp which can be activated if needed. This preamp doesn´t affect tone. By pulling the volume knob, the preamp will be activated, with pushed volume knob, the bass works completely passive.

[2] Passive Tone Control
This classic tone control works in passive and active mode.

Apeiron H Edition series with "The Hybrid" pickup system

The Apeiron H-Edition bass fully integrates the unique concept of the Delano
"TheHybrid" pickup system
which is not to be compared with normal
splitable humbucker designs. Learn more about this pickup here.

[1] Volume Control
· [2] Pickup Pan Control

Tone Controls: [3] Bass Tone Control· [4] Treble Tone Control & Passive Tone Control*
The center position (at 12:00) is flat, rotating the control clockwise will boost and rotating the control counterclockwise will cut the tone. * A specially designed pot that works as a classic passive tone control in the single coil mode and as an active treble EQ in the parallel humbucking mode.

[5] working mode toggle switch
The toggle switch controls the Apeirons integrated "The Hybrid" mode management by switching the pickups internal wiring, activating or de-activating the EQs and changing the signal paths simultaneously to shift between the both classic sounds at one touch. When the toggle switch is in towards the neck position the passive single coil mode is activated (full bodied early 60´s single coil characteristics with true hardware-bypass and passive tone control). When the switch is in towards the bridge position the Apeiron works in the biting humbucking mode (low resistance parallel bridge pickup coils and two-band active electronics).

Tech note: In the humbucking mode, you´re able to combine the hybrid pickup with the neck pickup, too. This is an additional feature. But take note, that use of the neckside single coil pickup in may cause hum (Apeiron H Edition only), if driven with the active electronis. To achive an authentic sound, you should turn the balance knob fully backwards - and so your bass is hum-free. Apeiron HP Edition basses have a hum-free split-coil humbucker in neck position.

[6]* coilsplitting toggle switch
When the toggle switch is in towards the neck (or up-) position, each pickup (neck- and bridge pickup) is routed in series. When the switch is in middle position position, each pickup (neck- and bridge pickup) works as single coil. When the switch is in towards the bridge (or down-) position, each pickup (neck- and bridge pickup) is routed in parallel.
*Optionally the Argo can be equipped with two toggle switches, which allows to route both pickups independently from each other to single coil, parallel and in series.

Tech note: All pickup settings are humfree.
